The Kiss - Jervis Bay will be coordinating an interactive event “Food for Thought” linking the 2013 theme of Food Waste. Participants will be able to view 13 plates, each plate highlighting a thought about taking care to personally reduce Food Waste. We will also be conducting survey “Left on the plate”. Many cafes and restaurants throw away a large quantity of salad and vegetables. Enormous amounts of energy and resources are used to grow, harvest, transport and prepare foodstuff that is pushed to the side of plates. Our survey will hopefully assist local providers to rethink what and how they offer healthy menu options and reduce food waste. The Kiss – Jervis Bay will also be displaying and supplying compostable and biodegradable eco friendly products catering supplies as alternatives to support this zero waste event. The activity will result in a fun, interactive, and informative celebration of WED 2013.

The Kiss - Jervis Bay coordinated an interactive event “Sustainability –3 “P’s” & Time” linking both the 2012 theme of Green Economy and the 40th anniversary of World Environment Day.
Participants painted the three pillars of sustainability – large cut outs of People, Profit and Planet and united these pillars to highlight that by working together we can strengthen the goal of Sustainability. Flying from this installation was a flag timeline, colour themed with the 2012 WED logo. Each flag represented a year from 1972 until 2012. Major milestones of the United Nations Environment Program were written on additional flags which were attached to the corresponding year flag. The activity of connecting the milestone event with the year increased awareness of partipants and viewers of the significant achievements of UNEP WED over the last 40 years.
The Kiss – Jervis Bay also displayed and supplyed compostable and eco friendly products as sustainable alternatives to support this zero waste event. The activity was a fun, interactive, colourful and informative celebration of WED 2012.
